Have you been to Paris lately?

I took my daughter to Paris for a few culturally inclined days last August, en route to the South. I caught a bug: Since then, Paris seems to be everywhere. I hear chansons, I see Eiffel towers, I eat baguette with soft smelly cheeses, I dress in blue, red and white and have bought Vogue every month. Aaaaaahhhh, Paris...

I am definitely having a red year...

Four weeks into 2012 , there is no denying that red things are coming my way!!! Scarily so!

I am quite excited though. Having gone through a few years of blues and greens and many turquoises, with a stint in naturals lately, red is definitely pushing its way in!

Is this a subtle way of this blog guiding me through some intuitive colour choices when it comes to Scandinavian classics? Well, it makes me happy!

And this song does too!

Swedish Design

My friends at this Brooklyn hub have given some attention to Mr. Forsberg - very well earned if you ask me! Check out their website and enjoy the photography. The website design isn't so bad, hm?!

THE Chest – Situation One

As announced last week, the chest will play an important role in this blog: I will make some suggestions how to combine a beautiful piece of old furniture with some pieces from the kitchen, the lounge or the bedroom.

Today’s pieces are white ceramics from all corners of the world, not only from the Nordik home. Combined with some lace doilies left to me by my Oma (German for granny), this selection of crockery looks beautiful against a red wall, paired with a lamp to match. A contrasting photo frame with a black & white rounds up the grouping.

Into the weekend, camping

What can be better than to leave the city on a sunny morning, heading into the National Park for 3 days camping? Three mums, three kids, lots of food! Perfekt!
A natural environment is said to spark a flood of ideas - looking forward to a few pages filled ;-)

THE Chest

This is a BEAU-tiful piece of furniture that I FOUND abandoned on the street one evening, coming home from a talk about Collaborative Consumption – can you believe it??? It will be a stage for my project to showcase this thingfinder’s “landscapes” for the home… I am looking forward to choosing some treasures that work well together and hope you find some ideas to copy and install in your own abode.

Find & Be Found!

"I am a Thing-Finder, and when you're a Thing-Finder you don't have a minute to spare. . . . The whole world is full of things, and somebody has to look for them."
Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren

A big part of starting this blog was the decision to finally start sharing a great passion of mine and to write about and post images of my findings: OPP-SHOPPING, grossly underrated, naturally fitting, increasingly sensible and so very livable!!!

In Sweden, "loppis" are the places to go. They are second hand markets, found in shops, garages, barns, car boots and carts by the roadside. A paradise for treasure hunters and lovers of Scandinavian design, craft, fashion and homewares.

Living in Sydney, this thingfinder's heart has many opportunities to jump, too!
